Project Overview
Launched in February 2026, Leather Innovation & Skills Lab focuses on supporting leather SMEs in adapting to the rapidly changing regulatory and technological landscape.
The initiative provides companies with practical tools, applied knowledge, and tailored training pathways to enhance sustainability, digitalisation, and competitiveness.
Through a strong collaboration between industry, research, and training providers, the project contributes to building a more resilient and innovation-driven leather ecosystem in Europe.
The Three Pillars of
Leather Innovation & Skills Lab
A structured pathway to support skills, innovation, and sustainability in the leather sector
1. Needs Assessment
An initial analysis phase carried out directly with SMEs to identify concrete skills gaps and co-design targeted training pathways aligned with real operational needs.
2. Dissemination and Training Programme
The core of the project, consisting of 10 hybrid sessions where SSIP researchers present technological and environmental innovations, followed by hands-on training modules delivered by Time Vision.
3. Guidelines and Case Studies
Production of operational manuals and documented success stories to ensure knowledge transfer and replicability across the entire tanning district.
